Briton Ferry Llanaswel Under 15's take down Archers in 4-1 win.
Another wet and heavy “soggy Sunday” afternoon did nothing to dampen Briton Ferry’s momentum. The Reds secured a well-earned 4–1 victory over Cardiff Met to extend their unbeaten run and maintain pressure at the top of the table.
Ferry imposed themselves early. The midfield link play and rotations were sharp despite the conditions, and pressure in wide areas repeatedly stretched the Met back line.
The breakthrough arrived inside the opening minutes. Isabelle Murison made one of her trademark surging runs down the right channel, breaking behind the defence after a well-weighted through-ball from Eva Young. Murison drove into the box and lifted a composed, powerful finish across the goalkeeper into the far corner to make it 1–0.
The second goal was a moment of pure quality from distance. Evie Morgan picked up possession just outside the box, set herself, and unleashed a stunning strike high into the top corner. With the speed, dip, and precision on the shot, it’s fair to say not even three goalkeepers were stopping it a 2–0 score line and a real statement finish.
Half Time: Briton Ferry Llansawel 2-0 Cardiff Met
The girls were quickly out of the traps in the second half, A quick clever flick-on from April Thomas allowed Eva Young to accelerate into space behind the defence. Young held her composure and slotted the ball past the advancing keeper, making it 3–0.
The rain intensified and the pitch became increasingly heavy, turning the second half into more of a transitional battle. Both sides pushed forward in quick phases, but Ferry remained the more purposeful.
Young added her second and Ferry’s fourth. Imogen Griffiths spotted Young’s movement and lifted a perfectly judged ball over the defence. Young again beat the back line for pace and finished with the same calm precision as before 4–0 and commanding control.
Cardiff Met found a late consolation from a deep through ball. Indigo Belton made an excellent initial save, but the rebound fell kindly and Met reacted first to convert. While disappointed to concede, it doesn’t detract from what was an organised, intelligent, and flexible defensive performance.
The back line worked hard all match to maintain shape, communicated clearly, and adapted to tactical adjustments including rotations of positions and marking structures without losing collective discipline.
In difficult conditions, that cohesion mattered, this was led by captain Sophie Walker who didn't let anyone get past her by her strength, skill and desire to win the ball at all times.
The result keeps Ferry unbeaten and firmly in the title chase, with games in hand over both Swansea City and Pontypridd United.
