Match Report under 19’s Women’s: Aberystwyth Town 0-7 Briton Ferry Llansawel

Seventh Heaven for Reds

Briton Ferry Llansawel scored seven goals as they beat Aberystwyth Town at Park Avenue. 


Ferry made a quick start and were ahead after six minutes thanks to Freya Peyton.  The good start continued, and Gwen Strand added a second 16 minutes in.  Chloe Rudge set up Matilda Matthews for the Reds third just before the half hour mark. 


Meg Copeland made it four five minutes into the second half and Matthews scored her second five minutes later.  Rudge the went from provider to scorer as she hit two in two minutes taking the score to 7-0. 


The Reds remain in second place with 15 points four points behind leaders Pontypridd United. 

Attacking from the start Ferry were rewarded for their positive play six minutes in as Lucy Jones played the ball inside to Freya Peyton.  Peyton struck from the edge of the box finding the corner of the net.

Peyton went close to a second when her shot from outside the box went narrowly wide. 


Aber were struggling to deal with the Reds and as they tried to clear their lines the ball fell to Gwen Strang.  From 30 yards Strang let loose and sent the ball over the keeper into the net.


Aber did have a chance to pull a goal back when Seren Evans broke though on the left.  Evans able to shoot but only able to find the side netting.


Ferry’s third came from a great pass across the box from Rudge finding Matilda Matthews.  Matthews cut back inside to move away from a defender and fired though the keeper.


Charlotte Merry was needed to turn a decent effort from Lily Moralee-Hughes around the post.

The Reds started the second half the same way they started the first on the front foot and creating chances.


They didn’t need to wait long before extending their lead jut five minutes into the half.  Meg Copeland connecting first time with Matthews corner hitting a volley into the net.


Matthews then added her name to the scoresheet with a powerful shot inside the box. 

Aber again struggling to clear, they only cleared as far as Matthews who strike flew into the net.


Matthews then turned to provider as she sent a cross from the right into the six-yard box.  Matthews cross not dealt with by the Aber keeper allowing Chloe Rudge a simple header on the line.   


Rudge then added goal number seven with a lob over the keeper from outside the box.
